Why trading still feels chaotic (and how to fix it)

🧠 1. Mindset: You’re not the problem — randomness is

If you’re frustrated with your trading, this might sound familiar:
You try to follow a plan… but the second you're in a trade, everything goes foggy.
You hesitate. You doubt. You second-guess entries, exits, direction.

Here’s what I’ve learned:
It’s not a mindset issue. It’s a missing structure issue.

And the longer you try to push through with discipline alone — without a process — the more burned out you’ll feel.

Most traders don’t fail because they’re lazy or emotional.
They fail because they never had a simple, repeatable plan to trust in the first place.

So if that’s you — stop blaming yourself.
Start building structure.

Action tip: Go to a higher timeframe - like the 1 Day or even 3 Day chart - and analyse the overall structure happening on that timeframe. Use it to inform your trading, ie to stay out of shorts for example if the structure on 3 Day chart is bullish. ⚙️ 2. System: No setup = no trade

One of the most important rules in my system is this:
If I don’t see my setup, I don’t trade.

No exceptions.

When I was inconsistent, I took anything that looked good.
Now? I filter ruthlessly:

Clear trend
Valid entry event based on liquidity zone
Confirmed structure
Entry model and exit plan matched
Risk clean

If I don’t get all five, I don’t touch it.
That rule alone has saved me more money than any technical indicator ever could.

📊 3. Chart Breakdown: NZDUSD

Last week I passed on a setup that looked good… but wasn’t clean.

If you’re familiar with the Method Trading Strategy, you’ll know that we have new entries at the 61.8Fib Level, trading up to the liquidity zone identified on the 3 Day Chart.

Here’s what I look for in a clean trade during this phase:

Price has hit the 61.8 Fib level
There is a retrace
Trading Event on 1 Day Chart
Significant Level
4HR Entry
Min Risk Reward +3RR

Here’s a textbook example of a clean setup that happened in December 2023 resulting in an easy 10RR:

Here’s how that trade played out on the 4HR chart - see how cleanly it ran up to our target for a 10 risk reward?

Last week we had another ‘Trading Event’ setup at the 61.8 Fib, but the full setup was not clean. We’ve been long on this pair since 9 Jan 2025 and are looking for bullish continuation.

Old me would’ve taken it out of FOMO. New me followed the plan.. I’ll wait for the clean retrace and new entry event.

🧠 Lesson: Saying “no” is one of your strongest edges.

🎯 4. Directional Bias: My Watchlist for the Week

This week I’m focused on:

EUR/USD — Bullish structure, watching for continuation to the upside into liquidity at 1.183
USD/CAD — Bearish, new 4HR signal at the 200MA
AUD/USD — Bullish. After terrible price action ‘crabbing’ across the 200MA on the daily, price has now taken out the liquidity built up on the downside and we will continue to trade long setups from here.
